Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel paid his respect to the 260 Chicago public school students killed in the past three years at a vigil on Monday.

The vigil was the first of five scheduled for the week by Urban Dolorosa, a community organization that has memorialized Chicago’s young victims with poetry, music and performances.

The mayor is known for personally calling the family of each young victim of gun violence, most recently a 10-year-old boy shot in the leg on his way home from trick-or-treating on the city’s Northwest Side on Monday night.
