17-year-old John Crowder was shot and killed Monday morning just two blocks away from his grandmother’s home. The victim, his cousin and a friend were walking home and were all shot.
Crowder was already being sought out by colleges to play football. He just moved back into the city a month ago after relocating to York, PA to get away from the danger in his neighborhood. He would commute to school everyday but that did not last long. The student attended Towson Catholic and then moved to Mt. Carmel this year.
Crowder’s grandmother raised his as well as his two brothers. His mother is deceased.
Crowder was well liked by everyone in the community. No one had a negative word to say about the teen athlete.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
To date this murder makes the 105th murder in Baltimore City this ear.
