BGE Customers Could Get Up To $750 In Energy Relief Starting July 1

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has unveiled a new $19 million Customer Relief Fund aimed at helping low- and middle-income households manage rising energy costs.
The fund, supported by Exelon using shareholder dollars, will offer financial relief to customers of its utility companies—BGE, Pepco, and Delmarva Power. Moore made the announcement Thursday alongside representatives from BGE and local nonprofit partners, including United Way of Central Maryland, the Salvation Army, Harford Community Action Agency, and Shore UP!
BGE customers will receive the bulk of the support—$15 million in total. Eligible households may qualify for a one-time grant ranging from $250 to $750, applied directly to their BGE account.
United Way of Central Maryland will administer the program for BGE customers. Applications open on July 1.
“Every day, I hear from Marylanders worried about rising utility bills,” Moore said in a statement. “This new fund is a critical step toward providing the relief they deserve—and we’re not stopping here.”
Starting July 1, BGE customers with limited or moderate incomes and a past-due account balance can apply for assistance. Approved grants will be credited directly to their BGE bills.
More details on the Customer Relief Fund will be available here.
