Baltimore County’s school board has identified six finalists for the county’s next permanent superintendent, the board confirmed Monday.

The search for a permanent superintendent to run the school system started with Ray and Associates consulting company contacting over 1,000 people in 48 states with the opportunity. A total of 41 people later applied for the position. After a screening of each individual applicant based on administrative experience and a good academic background, they were then evaluated on the criteria and qualities determined by the board.

The board said it then evaluated applicants for their experience and academic background, and on the board’s own criteria, including classroom experience, trustworthiness and recruitment experience.
