DETROIT–  With the city’s residents faced with issues such as health, employment and education, Detroit’s community services are pushed to their limits. Now is the time for the churches to reach beyond their walls and be the extended hand of God.

The Coalition of Churches and Communities (C3) will hold a press conference Saturday morning to announce a new initiative to more efficiently and effectively serve people and neighborhoods in need. Michigan Works, Oakland Community College, Michigan Resources, Rippling Hope, the Greening of Detroit and the Salvation Army are teaming up with Detroit area Churches to make Detroit a shining city on the hill.

The goal is to streamline bringing job training, healthcare screenings, blight remediation and youth ministry to more people. January 9th is the day we begin to change the future of our city and communities. The time is now to put a strategic plan in motion.
