Remember Watoto Of The Nile, the Natur sisters from Baltimore who penned the “Open Letter To Little Wayne” song that went viral last year on youtube? Well they are back with another socially conscious song, this time with “Warning – A Dedication To Trayvon Martin.”

Sisters Kamaria, Nia and Nya captivated the world with their bold lyrics denouncing the rapper, Lil Wayne, and his sexually suggestive and demeaning lyrics toward women. The sisters – ages 5, 10 and 9 at the time – received backlash from angry fans of the internationally-known rapper. There are two new members in the group  – Mary, 12, and Anasia, 10. The girls wrote the song themselves.

Using the melody of rappers T-Pain and Wiz Khalifa‘s “5 O’Clock”, Watoto Of The Nile have taken on the tragic case of Trayvon Martin. The chorus of “Warning” reads –

“Watoto’s here with a warning. Right now our nation’s in mourning. We hope that justice prevails soon. The Martin family, we’re with you. We come together, we must care. The negative can go elsewhere. I put my hood on though I’m weeping because this case is so misleading. Watoto’s here with a warning.”

These are some talented young sisters from Baltimore who have a bright future ahead of them. I’m sure they will continue to share socially conscious music that will capture the hearts and minds of today’s youth. This is not the last we’ve heard of Watoto Of The Nile.
