As temperatures rise across Maryland, local officials have activated cooling centers to help residents stay safe during extreme heat. From libraries and recreation centers to senior centers and community spaces, here’s where you can cool off this summer across the Baltimore region.

What to Expect at Cooling Centers:

  • Free access to air conditioning
  • Water fountains or hydration resources
  • Limited capacity—call ahead if possible
  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours
  • Never leave pets or people in parked vehicles
  • Check on elderly neighbors or those without air conditioning
