Three Airlifted After Small Baltimore County Plane Crashes in Vermont

Three individuals were airlifted to a hospital after their plane, which departed from a Baltimore County airport, crash-landed on a mountain in Vermont on Wednesday, according to first responders.

The aircraft took off from Martin State Airport before the pilot made a 911 call around 8:30 a.m., prompting nearly 100 emergency personnel to respond to Mount Equinox.

Rescue crews encountered significant challenges reaching the crash site due to deep snow, but all three passengers sustained only non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. Officials noted that the heavy snow and open terrain near the summit likely helped minimize the severity of injuries.

“There’s really no way you can fully train for something like this,” said Jamie Greene of the Manchester Fire Department. “You just have to adapt as you go. The key factors are manpower and access to all-terrain vehicles.”

Local fire officials confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will arrive on-site Friday to investigate the crash.
