The Maryland Auto Insurance Fund admits playing a roll in the “Healthy Holly” book deal controversy.

The organization issued a statement to Fox Baltimore saying it discovered that its former executive director authorized a $7,500 check “payable to Healthy Holly, LLC, 326 St. Paul Place, Suite 300, Baltimore, MD 21202 for its outreach program with the Associated Black Charities” on August 20, 2012.

“The Board of Trustees of the Maryland Auto Insurance Fund and the former Executive Director parted ways in 2015. The current Board of Trustees and executive team were unaware of the payment until today,” explained Maryland Auto Insurance spokesperson Dan Franko.
