Doug Williams, football great, became the first Black to quarterback a Super Bowl team on January 31, 1988. Williams led the Washington Washington Football Team to a 42-10 win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII.

Doug Williams played quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1978-82; played in the United States Football League for the Oklahoma/Arizona Outlaws, 1983-85; played with the Washington Washington Football Team, 1986-89; founded the Doug Williams Foundation, 1988; head coach at Zachary Northeast High School, 1993; assistant coach at the U.S. Naval Academy, 1994; offensive coordinator for the Scottish Claymores of the World Football League, 1995; scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars, 1995-96; head coach at Morehouse College, 1997; head coach at Grambling State University,1998.
