Southwest is about to take away one of our favorite perks! Months after ditching its open seating policy, the airline revealed Tuesday that it will eliminate the famous long-standing “bags fly free” policy for flights booked on or after May 28. The airline will begin charging for the first and second checked bag however, members of its A-List loyalty program or those traveling on a business fare will be exempt from the fees.
Bob Jordon, Southwest’s president and CEO, said this change is meant to help drive revenue growth and reward the airline’s most loyal customers.
