Acting Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison took center stage in Northwest Baltimore and Residents did not hold back.

He talked about his journey to here, working his way up through internal affairs unafraid to root out bad officers in the New Orleans Police Department.

Admitting the Baltimore Police Department has what he calls “a serious manpower shortage,” Harrison said he would like to use smart deployment strategies to allow officers to engage in more community policing.

The acting commissioner says expecting an immediate drop in crime is not realistic, but he will work to turn the trend around.

There will be eight community meetings where Baltimoreans can weigh in and learn more about Harrison. All meetings are scheduled to take place from 7-9 p.m.
