Shortly after the final Midterm Election results started trickling in, “African Americans” became a surprising trending topic on Twitter. The topic came about after the revelation that there would be no African-Americans in the U.S. Senate next year. Tweeters of all races and ethnicities began making fun of this revelation, as well as the ‘supposed lack’ of Black voter turnout.
An unofficial number began to spread on Twitter that only 4 percent of Blacks voted. While official results have yet to be released, CBS is reporting that an estimated 10 percent of blacks voted, compared to 13 percent in 2008.
