Last week, a driver used his cellphone camera to record a squeegee guy hitting his window after he said he didn’t want his windows cleaned. It happened at the intersection of Hamburg and Russell streets. The driver said the washer then busted his back windshield.

There has reported an increase in violent behavior with squeegee kids. The partnership said unarmed guards are for the safety of drivers and kids.

Last summer, Mayor Catherine Pugh started “Squeegee Corps,” which gives kids who clean car windows on street corners an opportunity to learn about business and financial literacy.

Hopefully the added edition of unarmed guards will ensure everyone is safe. They are anticipated to start next week.
