76 people are dead after a plane carrying a Brazilian soccer team crashed in Colombia, NY Daily News reports.
The team was in route to their final match from Sao Paulo when the plane lost power and crashed. The pilots flying the British Aerospace 146 declared an emergency in flight due to a possible electrical failure, airport Spokewoman Ana Lucia Perez Mesa said.
“I feel profound sadness,” Alejandro Martinuccio, an injured player told Argentina’s La Red radio.
6 survivors were recovered from the wreckage, including goalkeeper Jackson Ragnar Follmann, defender Alan Luciano Ruschel and central defender Helio Hermito Zampier.
The team was scheduled to play the Copa Sundamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday.
