Atwo-year-old girl was killed in a fire at her Brooklyn apartment while her mother was at work, the New York Post reports.

The body of Kalenah Muldrow was found under a bed, where she apparently tried to hide from the flames, reportedly caused by a portable heater.

The child’s mother, Leila Aquino, 20, an exotic dancer, was allegedly working at the time of her daughter’s death, the report says.

Sources say the mother arrived on the scene two hours after the fire, carrying a box containing nearly $1,000 in singles, her tips from the evening.

The mother claims her child was supposed to be in the care of a babysitter, who told investigators she hadn’t worked for the dancer in nearly a month due to non-payment.

Aquino has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. Friends and family were saddened and shocked by the toddler’s death.

She used to take care of her,” Kalenah’s paternal great-grandmother, Jean Archibald, 73, said. “I’ve never heard of [Leila] doing anything like this. I guess people change.”
