March 25, 2014 is Diabetes Alert Day, a one-day “wake-up call” asking Americans public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
According to CDC, type 2 diabetes is a disease that especially affects millions of African Americans, who are at an even higher risk for this serious chronic condition. An estimated 3.7 million or 14.7 percent of all non-Hispanic blacks age 20 and older have diabetes.
