Despite the hundreds of students that swarmed his door step to show support of him the night before, the beloved Penn State football coach announced his plans to retire at the end of the season. Paterno, 84, is stepping down from a 46-season career that has afforded him a record breaking 409 wins and two championships in 1984 and ’86.

This decision comes after Paterno was criticized by the Pennsylvania State Commissioner in failing to further seek justice in a child abuse scandal involving assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky that has shocked the nation. Paterno is both apologetic and takes responsibility for the scandal exceeding almost a decade after he initially reported it to his superiors back in 2002.

“This is a tragedy,”…”It’s one the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.”

The decision to retire saddens the Penn State football team, students and community. The question now is will Joe Paterno’s historic accolades be overshadowed and reputation tarnished by this horrific child abuse scandal.

However in June of 2008 Enfenetee was in a bad car accident that left her down for several months. She was in pain and thought it was because of the accident but something more sinister was wreaking her body. October 30, 2008 she was diagnosed with a rare type of aggressive breast cancer. She was in her early 20’s. She was determined not to let this cancer interfere in her life. She had met this challenge head on. She was on a mission to beat this invader of her body. 

In fighting the fight she had confronted all the things that were binding her up the new Enfenetee was born. She was dedicated in developing her soul with God and forgiving those who had wronged her. She was progressing in her journey. Sunday September 11^th 2011, that journey lead her to the house of the father and Enfenetee was called home. She leaves behind her X9 family that cared for her until the end, her Radio One family and host of family and friends. In an effort to bring awareness to the disease she was fighting Enfenette had begin to document her story. Click HERE to watch the documentary trailer. 

We love and deeply miss our sister Enfentee but we know she in the cloud of witness looking over us RIP Enfenetee.

Grammy nominated singer Chante’ Moore brought down the house last weekend at a fundraiser for the Bluford Drew Jemison S.T.E.M. Academy in West Baltimore. The r&b superstar felt there was no better place for her to be than to help raise funds for the young men who excel in subjects such as math, science and engineering. The funds raised that evening would aid the middle school students with books, school supplies, equipment and much needed renovations. Over 250 supporters from around the nation attended phenomenal event.

Tuesday morning Radio One Baltimore’s Larry Young Morning Show hosted the 2011 Mayoral Debate at the Radio One Baltimore studios. All mayoral candidates were present for the event. More that 60 invited guests and all local major news stations were in attendance. The list of issues discussed included jobs, school reform, the development of an African American arts and entertainment district, city crime, vacant houses and summer activities for city youth.
