Larry Young broke into the media field as a columnist for the Baltimore Times and then started at Radio One in 1998 with “Senator’s Talk” on WOLB-AM.  Today the former senator celebrates 15 years with Radio One and has a leading morning show on WOLB.

The “Larry Young Morning” show has been rated as the #1 Black Talk Show in Maryland. Talker Magazine rated in #99  in their 2007 Top 100 Talk Shows and #86 in 2008. The Baltimore City Paper also named his show, Best Radio Station in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Radio One’s talk radio would not be the same without Larry Young and for that he has much to celebrate! Happy Birthday Larry Young and may you have many more to come!

Beyonce confirmed that she is pregnant as she graced the 2011 MTV VMA red carpet in a red gown holding her small baby bump! Bey is expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z! This comes after Lil Wayne threatened to kidnap Queen B on his diss record “It’s Good.”

Grammy nominated singer Chante’ Moore brought down the house last weekend at a fundraiser for the Bluford Drew Jemison S.T.E.M. Academy in West Baltimore. The r&b superstar felt there was no better place for her to be than to help raise funds for the young men who excel in subjects such as math, science and engineering. The funds raised that evening would aid the middle school students with books, school supplies, equipment and much needed renovations. Over 250 supporters from around the nation attended phenomenal event.

Curtis Mayfield was an soul, funk, and R&B singer songwriter and producer. With hits like “It’s all Right” and “Superfly” Mayfield was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has influenced a number of artist from hip hop to pop, and is credited to have defined the 1960′s Chicago sound.

It was the most devastating day of spring storms in four decades.  Over 350 people died and parts of the Southeast still look like a war zone.  That’s why Radio One Baltimore is teaming up with Ravens fullback and Alabama native LeRon McClain to present “B’more for ‘Bama Relief Day!”  Starting at the Radio One Baltimore studios at 1705 Whitehead Road and then at the Carmelo Anthony Center, 1100 East Fayette Street, Baltimore really showed up and showed out.

Donations included bottled water, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant and other toiletries, blankets, clothing, shoes, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, small toys, Ziploc bags, bandages and other first aid items, baby formula, baby food, diapers, toilet paper, Kleenex, individual juices, feminine products and pet food. All items collected will go directly to help those in need in Alabama.

Mario, Raheem DeVaughn, CJ Hilton, Paula Campbell and more performed for Baltimore’s youth last night at the “Benefit for Baltimore’s Children” presented by Living Classrooms Foundation and the Mario Do Right Foundation! Last night’s event was held at the Hippodrome. Proceeds from the concert will go towards Living Classrooms’ education and job training programs and to help the Do Right Foundation educate and inspire youth that have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse in the home.
