“What does Sarah Palin think?” is a question I think about as often as “Should I drop a hammer on my toe?” But for FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren, this is an inquiry she’s contractually obligated to consider more seriously. Wednesday night, the two struggled to offer engaging and credible critiques of the State Department’s handling of Benghazi before moving to an area seemingly more appropriate for the ex-Alaskan governor: headline snatchers.

Van Susteren questioned Palin on Time magazine naming President Barack Obama as their “Person of the Year.” Not surprisingly, the former vice presidential candidate was less than impressed. Palin then spoke to the publication’s irrelevancy in a moving display of tragic irony and being critically self-unaware.

Palin told Greta Van Susteren:

“I think there’s some irrelevancy there, to tell you the truth. I mean consider their list of the most-influential people in the country and the world, some who have made that list — yours truly! That ought to tell you something right there regarding the credence that we should give Time magazine and their list of people.”

Well, to be fair, Palin is right to point out how increasingly uninteresting and not-so-influential she is the more she opens her mouth to spew out a bunch of empty nonsense.

Other comments Palin offered in that same interview include her accusation that President Obama “sees the constitution as a charter of negatives,” plus quipping that other than “drive us over a fiscal cliff,” Palin asked of Obama, “what the heck has he done?”

There’s a few lists around to answer such a question, but that would assume Sarah Palin has the intellectual curiosity to do something as simple as logging on to Google and letting the magic happen.

Watch the foolishness for yourself here:

For those who are curious, Time’s rational for naming Obama as their “Person of the Year” is partially rooted in “finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union.”

Considering the numerous reports about the coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Asians, single women, and gay voters that helped the President win his reelection bid decisively, that premise ought to be a no-brainer to comprehend.

Still, Van Susteren appeared unmoved when she asked Palin what she made of that stance, though. But just so we’re clear on how well Van Susteren gauges the political climate, she wrote the following in a July 2011 blog entry: “I am guessing Governor Sarah Palin is running for President in 2012.”

So there you go.

Now as it pertains to Sarah Palin, if she’s aware of how little of influence she wields, when will FOX News figure it out?
