Mayor Releases New Data Showing Increase in Jail Time for Gun Offenders

The average sentence for illegally wearing, carrying, or transporting a firearm reached 13 months, up from the average 4 months over the past several years. The average sentence for felony gun offenders doubled from 2009 to 63 months. In 2011, Baltimore recorded the lowest number of homicides in over 30 years.
