TMZ reports that NFL player Junior Seau has passed away due to a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The player was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA by his housekeeper.

Law enforcement believes that the player did indeed shoot himself. Seau was 43 years-old and now leaves behind a wife and three children.

Sources say that Seau sent a text message to his wife and three children stating, “Love you,” in which they all responded back. Family members were reported saying that they did not see any signs of this happening.

Junior Seau leaves behind a legacy and a great career in football. Having played for three major teams including the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. Selected in the first round of the NFL draft in 1990 and playing for over 20 years, the athlete will be missed.
